Environmental activists rally against fracking

Maryland environmental activists met at the University of Baltimore Saturday to advocate for a legislative ban on the natural gas drilling technique known as hydraulic fracturing — or fracking — the Baltimore Sun reported.

About 200 activists from around the state attended the conference. Fracking involves extracting natural gas by pumping in large quantities of water, sand and chemicals to break up shale deep underground.
