Elijah Cummings releases new accusations of Walmart bribes
Democratic U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings and Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., have made public new accusations that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. bribed public officials in Mexico to accommodate the company's growth plans, Bloomberg reported.
The New York Times in December published detailed reports on Walmart's expansion in Mexico — including the company's strategy to gain favor among local officials to win necessary approvals.
Now, Bloomberg reports, Cummings and Waxman are investigating claims made by an ex-lawyer…
