Earth Networks lands NASA contract for WeatherBug

Germantown-based Earth Networks Inc. has won a NASA contract for its WeatherBug weather monitoring service at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility on Virginia's Eastern Shore, the Washington Business Journal reported.

Under the contract, Earth Networks will deliver lightning data from its lightning detection network, helping flight planners know when it is unsafe for rocket launches and aircraft operations. It did not disclose financial terms of the contract.
