Controversial Md. DNA collection law extended by House

Despite a possible U.S. Supreme Court decision to strike down Maryland's controversial DNA collection law, the House of Delegates voted 135-1 Thursday to extend it, the Maryland Daily Record reported.

Scheduled to sunset at the end of 2013, the law allows police to obtain DNA samples from arrestees for certain violent crimes without a warrant. The bill now moves to the State Senate.
