ConAgra becomes largest private-label food manufacturer in U.S.

When ConAgra's agreement, to buy Ralcorp Holdings Inc. closes, it will become the largest private-label food manufacturer in the country, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Private-label brands now make up nearly 22 percent of packaged-food sales in the U.S., according to Nielsen data, up from 18.4 percent five years ago.
