City school board OKs $2.4B plan to renovate 150 Baltimore schools in 10 years
A sweeping $2.4 billion 10-year plan that would close or renovate more than 150 Baltimore schools was approved Tuesday by the city's school board, the Baltimore Sun reported.
The plan relies heavily on persuading state lawmakers to approve a measure allowing the city school system to borrow more than $1 billion, to be paid back by securing at least $32 million in funding from the state over several years in the form of a block grant.
