Baltimore sheds 2.8 percent of manufacturing jobs in 2012
Baltimore’s manufacturing industry continued to shed jobs in 2012.
Baltimore lost 2.8 percent of its manufacturing workforce last year, according to a report released Wednesday by Manufacturers’ News Inc. That ranks third in the U.S. for percentage of manufacturing jobs lost.
Baltimore also ranked No. 46 in the U.S. for number of industrial jobs. The report said the city currently has 31,365 manufacturing jobs, placing it just ahead of Tucson, Ariz., and immediately behind Birmingham, Ala.
