Baltimore population increases for first time in 60 years
After more than 60 years of decline, Baltimore City's population grew by 1,100 residents in 12 months, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates released Thursday, the Baltimore Sun reported.
The government attributed the increase to growing international migration and fewer people abandoning the city. There were 621,342 people in Baltimore on July 1, 2012 — up 0.2 percent from a year earlier — compared to a high of nearly 950,000 in 1950.
