Baltimore Co. delegate seeks to tighten cellphone driving law

Legislation to make handheld cellphone use while driving in Maryland a primary offense will be introduced Tuesday in the House of Delegates, the Baltimore Sun reported.

Baltimore County Del. James E. Malone Jr., the chairman of a House subcommittee that oversees traffic laws, said he plans to renew his effort to allow police to stop drivers using handheld cellphones even when the driver is not committing another offense, as is now required by law.
