Maryland-based author Paul Dickson chronicles the life of one of baseball's most colorful characters and legends, the showman, promoter and multi-team owner, Bill Veeck. It was Veeck who, after failing to make the St. Louis Browns a success and force the Cardinals out of that town, sold the franchise to a Baltimore group that brought Major League Baseball to Charm City in 1954.
