Wednesday October 5, 12 - 1 pm: The Fate of the USPS

Last year the United States Postal Service reported a net loss of $8.5 billion and claims it must eliminate 220,000 positions, more than 30 percent of its workforce, by 2015. The agency is so low on cash that it may have to shut down entirely this winter unless Congress takes emergency action to stabilize its finances. Last Tuesday, postal workers across the country held “Save the U.S. Postal Service” rallies, while the Postal Service is launching a new TV advertising campaign designed to slow the migration away from snail mail.
