Baltimore is the home of the “Red Cross Holocaust and War Victims Tracing Center,” which processes requests from families looking for information about loved ones who went missing during World War Two. We revisit a conversation with Sue Bornemann, who works at the center, and Bertha Shwarz, who enlisted its services. From the Holocaust and War Victims Tracing CenterBaltimore is the home of the “Red Cross Holocaust and War Victims Tracing Center.” Over 20 years, the center has processed about 45-thousand requests from families looking for information about loved ones who went missing during World War Two.



6-26-12: Marylander to Direct Holocaust Archive

The first incarnation of the International Tracing Service was established in 1943 with the goal of tracing people who’d been displaced during World War II.  Now, close to six decades later, the organization still receives hundreds of requests for information from people who were either victims of Nazi persecution, or from their family members.
