Frederick County

County executive or board of commissioners?  That's a choice voters in Frederick County will face this fall when they decide  whether to adopt a new form of govenrment. We hear from a political science about the differences, and a reporter from the Frederick News Post about public reception thus far.

Caroline Queen grew up paddling the streams of Montgomery County. Now she's taken her oar to London as a member of the U.S. Olympic kayaking team. We ask her how she's assessing the course ahead.

“County governments are large enough to cope, and small enough to care.”  It was actually a federal lawmaker who said that, the late Maryland Congresswoman Gladys Noone Spellman, who represented Maryland’s fifth district in the 1970s.  Exactly how large varies throughout the state.
