don't ask don't tell

The effort to allow citizens, regardless of sexual orientation, to serve in the U.S. military was legislated in 1993. Don't Ask Don't Tell prohibited the military from barring gay, bisexual or lesbian personnel from serving but the law also created a legacy of secretive behavior that frequently led to discrimination within the ranks.  Until now.  The Pentagon has announced the repeal of the bill which is set for September 20.
