Baltimore city is getting ready to create its budget for fiscal year 2014--and its asking citizens how it should allocate those billions of dollars. We ask budget director Andrew Kleine how citizens can make their thoughts known through budgeting workshops.

The Sparrows Point steel mill and its surrounding communities will be recognized this weekend by the Maryland State Arts Council. We ask oral historians Elmer Hall and Louis Diggs about the significance of the towns on Sparrows Point.

Gardener and farmer Anne Raver.Our garden guru, Anne Raver, has decided to sell her family farm in Carroll County.  She wrote about the decision in an essay in the New York Times, "Saying Goodbye to the Farm."  The decision to sell means the land could be planted differently, and that the converted barn where she and her partner have lived for a long time

Baltimore is organized with what’s called a "strong-mayor" form of government, in which the powers of the mayor far outweigh the powers of the City Council.  Sheilah talks about this form of government and how it compares to other systems with Eric Zeemering, Assitant Professour of Public Policy at UMBC. She also talks with Julie Scharper, who reports on City Hall for the Baltimore Sun, about the current power tussle that's taking place.

A visa program that allows foreign nationals to make investments in American companies in exchange for permanent residency is being used more frequently in Maryland. Those looking abroad for money include the Cordish Company, which needs investors for the Arundel Mills casino.
