A record 2.9 million properties were the target of a foreclosure filing last year , and a million were repossessed, according to RealtyTrac. In Maryland, there were more than 55,000 foreclosure filings.
As homeowners struggled to hang on, the federal government stepped in with its Home Affordable Modification Program. Now, at least one Maryland homeowner wonders just how helpful that program is. WYPR’s Mary Rose Madden worked with ProPublica, an independent, non-profit news organization, to prepare this report as part of our series, "Maryland Homes At Risk".
