Letter From the President

Dear WYPR Listeners;

Looking back on what has been a challenging time for many organizations, we at WYPR are gratified to know that we now have more listeners than ever, indicating that the station's programming is of great value to this community. Listeners continued to contribute, to the best of their ability, to ensure the highest quality journalism is reported for Marylanders. You showed us how much you value our role as a reliable media resource in many ways, including your continuous and generous financial support.

As we plan and prioritize for 2010, we remain true to our commitment of fiscal responsibility, assuring that every donated dollar is put to work to best advance WYPR's mission. The station’s 2010 "to-do" list includes expanded news coverage and the debut of two new HD channels.  Beginning January 15th, thanks to the support of significant grants, WYPR HD-2 will air BBC World Service's 24-hour news stream, and soon thereafter, HD-3 will air a variety of music. Another initiative in the coming year is to improve the appearance and functionality of WYPR's website. As users continue to diversify the ways in which they receive and share news and information, WYPR will expand and upgrade the site to better serve our audience.

To stay informed about HD Radio and all other WYPR news and events, please sign up for the monthly e-newsletter at

So, in the spirit of cautious expectations, all of us at WYPR look forward with optimism to an exciting year ahead. Thank you.
